Things to Do in Pismo Beach

From the iconic pier to 1,600 acres of dunes, Pismo Beach has more to explore than most visitors expect.

Pismo Beach is small enough to walk in an afternoon and big enough to fill a long weekend. The pier alone pulls thousands of visitors onto its 1,200 feet of weathered wood every day, but most of the best stuff takes a little more finding. The dunes at Oceano are unlike anything else in California. The monarch butterflies in winter draw quiet crowds from around the world. And the hiking preserve just east of downtown is virtually unknown to tourists. Start where you want. There is no wrong order.
